Chicago Garage Doors
A sizeable portion of what people see of your home from the street is your garage door, so the garage door type and garage door style you choose should complement the rest of your home’s exterior. Roller garage doors are an ideal option for garages with space problem or houses Would you ever guess that there may be over 300 parts in a typical garage door? Not only does a garage door have many parts, but it is also a part of your home with the most potential to increase property value. Garage doors rank #2 in ROI (Return On Investment) for mid ranged projects. According to the Cost vs. Value Report, released in Remodeling Magazine in November 2010, a garage door replacement can be an ideal investment for maintaining or even improving your home’s resale value. Of the 35 midrange remodeling projects listed, replacing your garage door offers the second highest ROI (83.9%), second only to entry door replacement. You can expect to recover a greater percentage of money from your new garage door than from almost any other home improvement project.

Garage Door Type
There are different garage door types available in the market, making them useful for multiple purposes and needs. We recommend that you take a minute and learn about the different garage types out there to better help you make your garage choice a wise selection –
Canopy Garage Door
—We’ve all seen the canopy garage door at work, folding up into the ceiling of your garage. It stays straight and is one of the less expensive types of garage doors found readily on the market. A disadvantage of the canopy is that the swing-up arc of the door occurs partially outside the garage. This means a vehicle must stop and park several feet in front of the door to avoid being hit by the garage door when it is opened.
Roll Up Garage Doors
— Roller garage doors are an ideal option for garages with space problem or houses with short and narrow driveways. The doors are made of narrow strips of aluminum that wrap around a drum positioned above the opening of the door. These garage doors do not have any overhang, swing or reduction in width. The operation of these doors is generally controlled with the help of a remote control. This simply means that you do not need to leave your car in order to open the garage door.
Sectional Garage Doors
—Sectional garage doors are segmented into large subdivisions along the breadth of the door. The sections of the door open upward into the ceiling space of the garage. As the door stays within the frame, the size of the driveway, whether small or big is of no relevance. The sectional garage door is usually constructed of six to eight panels and folds up into the ceiling in sections. It’s a non-intrusive and cosmetically appealing type of technology because of its ability to fold and go all the way up. Most people say that it is relatively easy to install if you follow the instructions.
Retractable Garage Doors
—Retractable garage doors are one-piece overhead doors which swing out and up, resting entirely inside the garage when opened. They are perfect for houses with large garage space. They require a large amount of space when opened, so the space directly in front of the door must be clear before opening. Retractable garage doors don’t insulate as well and aren’t as secure as other options.
Side Hinged Garage Door
—Swing hung garage doors are traditional garage doors that open like a normal door and are hinged to the door opening of the garage; therefore, they are often called side-hinged garage doors. One characteristic of these doors is that they require space in front of the garage to open the door. So, this type of door is not suitable for narrow or short driveways.
Garage Door Style
Which garage door style will best compliment and increase the value of your home? Which garage door style can offer the highest return on your investment? With hundreds of possible combinations of panels, windows and hardware to choose from it is not an easy decision. This is where Absolute Garage Builders can really show one of our strengths and help you. R-Value: Insulation Factor
The option to strongly consider for any garage door selection is its R-value. This is the assigned number for how well it will insulate from the outside. The higher the number, the better the insulation property the garage door will provide.

—Clean lines and classic functional details are the hallmarks of several Clopay garage door styles, making them well-suited for the modern home. Designs are available in a variety of materials including aluminum and glass, steel and wood.
Traditional Garage Doors
—Clopay’s traditional garage doors are manufactured in either steel or natural wood. Customize your garage door by selecting from a variety of panel styles available in long or short designs, a unique assortment of decorative window designs and up to eight factory-finished paint colors. Stain-grade wood is also an option.
Wooden Garage Doors
—Unlike steel and composite (plastic) garage doors that attempt to mimic the real wood garage door look, our wood garage doors are manufactured using natural materials that add to the richness and warmth of the home. There is no substitute for the authentic appeal of real wood. We assure you that your garage door will be built with real wood, providing instant curb appeal. Every project is unique, therefore, Absolute Garage Builders offers a full range of custom wooden garage doors to address the needs of our customers in the Chicago area. So whether your deciding factor is design, weather or budget—or perhaps all three—Absolute Garage Builders has the door that’s perfect for you.
Steel Garage Doors
—Steel garage doors are the most commonly installed types of doors. Their lower costs, maintenance and a variety of available designs make them the obvious choice for most homeowners. No painting is required, although the doors can be painted, and most manufacturers offer different finishing warranties on their garage doors. Styles include, but are not limited to, raised panel designs, flush panels and various carriage house designs. Most have insulation options, as well. Considering the fact that most garages share an interior wall of the home, insulation inside your garage door can help conserve heating and cooling costs.
Vinyl Garage Doors
—Vinyl garage doors are beginning to make a larger impression on the market. These doors won’t rust, and are more resistant to dings and scratches than the steel doors. Prepare to pay substantially more for these types of garage doors. They usually look like a steel door as far as exterior styles are concerned. Vinyl garage doors also have similar insulation options as steel garage doors.
Composite Garage Doors
— Composite doors are made with recycled wood fibers. They offer the strength of steel, with the looks and texture of wood and they can be painted or stained. Composite doors are superior to solid wood in resisting rotting and splitting. You get charmed from doors made with resilient, wood-composite technology. Old world looks, new world performance. Unlike solid wood garage doors, which may require regular maintenance to preserve their look, composite recycled wood garage doors have minimal upkeep needs thanks to innovative technology. Also, composite wood garage doors are more durable than traditional wood doors (which are susceptible to cracking, splitting, warping or rotting).
Thermacore Insulated Garage Doors
— Premium insulated garage doors for premium construction and maximum thermal efficiency, a Thermacore insulated steel door is the ideal choice. Most models feature our sandwich construction of steel-polyurethane-steel and between-section seals with thermal breaks for reduced air infiltration.
Modern Aluminum Garage Doors
— The Modern Classic is a true stile and rail garage door made with an all-aluminum construction. Panel widths and heights can be configured to meet your requirements. Choose from glass or aluminum panels, painted or anodized finish, regardless of your choices the Modern Classic’s beauty will last a lifetime and is virtually maintenance free. It is a perfect match for the modern house. Our collection of aluminum garage doors can be coupled with designer glass to blend with contemporary designs.
