How to Keep Your Garage Floor Clean During the Winter

Posted on December 31st, 2018 by Richard Hill

Do you find that the floor of your garage gets especially messy during the winter? Whether it’s through tire tracks or footsteps, all of that salt, snow, and slush finds its way into your garage no matter how careful you are. This can lead to a frustratingly dirty floor. Fortunately, our garage builder in Chicago has a few simple tricks to keep your garage as clean as possible during the cold winter months.

Try Out a Squeegee

As surprising as it sounds, this a classic trick to rid dirty floors of salt and sludge. Just do a quick run-around with a classic squeegee to rid your garage floors of that winter mess.

Floor Mats

Keep your garage floor nice and dry with some choice floor mats. There are many options to choose from, and using them is probably the easiest way to protect the floor beneath them from winter damage. If you feel up to it, you can cover your entire garage with them. If not, you can strategically place them under your vehicles. They’re easy to clean and easy to store once the winter is over! Simply roll them up and hide them until next year.

Dry/Wet Vacuum

If a heavy storm has just it and you find your garage full of large chunks of ice or massive puddles, take out your handy dry/wet vac. This is a quick, no hassle way to pick up rock salt or sludge from your floors.
