Specific parts of your home are more likely to develop problems due to wear and tear. Therefore, it is important to have routine home check-ups in order to catch any issues before they become worse. Many problems that arise in your home are easy to fix, as long as they are caught early enough.

Gutters

Most know to check their gutters and clean out leaves, and to make sure there aren’t any cracks or leaks. However, gutters are also an indicator of the health of your roof. When cleaning your gutters, if you notice large chunks of shingle material have found their way into the gutter, you may need to replace parts of your roof. Noticing this early, and replacing what needs to be replaced, is much less expensive than repairing a caved in roof.

Foundation

Though it goes without saying, the foundation of your home is something that needs to be checked. A foundation/basement inspection may be necessary in case small cracks become larger. You can also purchase a crack gauge to measure any cracks you notice in your foundation. When, and if, they become larger, you will be able to tell with this tool.

Water Issues

As water clearly must run through your house, there is the potential for leaks and other problems. Investing in a leak sensor for places such as your bathroom, basement, and more, can prevent you from spending big money later on due to unnoticed leaks.
